Take Me Back Tuesday | A Little Breather

For the majority of my life I have been known as the girl who is ALWAYS busy. Sometimes that’s intended to be a compliment. And sometimes…well, you fill in the blank. Maybe I get it from my mother, who always loves to be on the move. Maybe it goes back to my fear of missing out on anything. Or maybe I’m just afflicted! Either way, it’s in my nature to just constantly be going.

In very typical ‘Mary Form,’ 2012 has proven to be a thrilling and VERY busy year for me. I’ve been reflecting on it this past week and am a bit astounded at all the places I have been, the pictures I’ve taken, the people I have encountered and the memories I have made. Now, I know what you are thinking. ‘Uh Mary, I think you may have your calendar wrong because there are still 42 days left in 2012. ‘ Ok. Ok. Relax. I am aware that I still have some time left in the year. However, this past weekend I finished my last wedding of the year and am looking forward to somewhat of a ‘break.’ I still have quite a few portrait sessions lined up for the end of the year and the 2013 calendar is already filling, but after a crazy fall, it will at least feel like a bit of a break. During that time, I am hoping to do some new business planning and have some fun announcements to share with you! In the mean time, I am content to reflect with gratitude at the year behind. When I first bought my camera and started dreaming about my career as a photographer, it seemed like a far off notion. A what if. With the busyness of this past year, I am overwhelmed at the reality that is my dream.

So, in the name of Breathers, Busyness and Dreams that become Reality,

I say, Take Me Back!

Take Me Back Tuesday | Sock-less

Sometimes I am overwhelmed by the way my God blesses my life. Last Sunday t at church, we were singing and I just became suddenly so aware of the ways in which I am taken care of and my socks are blessed off. Literally. I am sock-less. I hope I never forget to be thankful for that and to be quick to recognize it. One way in particular I feel blessed is the special relationships in my life. As far back as I can remember, I have never wanted for sweet people who simply just make my life better. There are two particular people who fit into that category and yes, they are both under the age of 12. No shame, they are my favorite. For two wonderful years of my life they were my roommates as their generous parents let me live with their amazing family. I cherish my days with these two SO much and feel blessed to know them. Last week I returned from spending a week with them as their ‘fill-in mom’ while their parents were out-of-town. What a blast I had! They taught me how to build a fire (yes they taught me), we danced along with Bill Cosby on his Cosby show intro, shared special moments over bowls of Cheerios and dressed up for Halloween. I must say I made an awesome Queen of Hearts.

It is times like these that remind me just how ‘sock-less’ I really am. Grateful. So very grateful.

So, in the name of sweet relationships, God’s goodness and being sock-less,

I Say Take Me Back!

Sweet Baby Canyon | Maternity | Springfield, MO

Ebert_134.jpg

Life is crazy how it changes sometimes. A year and a half ago I was taking Debbie and Justin’s engagement pictures and a little over a year ago, we were celebrating at their wedding! Now, they are expecting little baby Canyon! I am so excited about their growing family and so blessed to have been able to meet in Springfield, MO to do their maternity session. Weddings keep me pretty busy, but Deb has been one of my best friends for several years and so I had to make this session happen. We had such a blast and these two made my job way to easy with the way they interact.

Deb and Justin, I can’t wait to meet your little boy and I definitely can’t wait to see you two as parents. You are going to be wonderful! Thanks for letting me take part in your journey!

Enjoy some of my favs from their session!

Tiffany + Michael | A Fairy Tale Themed Wedding | Dallas, TX

Mary Fields Photography

September 23rd is one special day for these two. The date that marked their ‘official’ dating relationship. The date Michael proposed. And now, the date they will celebrate for the rest of their lives as the day when they became husband and wife. What a special day it was too as Tiffany and Michael finally got to have the day they had been waiting for. With friends and family close, they celebrated their love on a beautiful golf course (complete with swans) and just enjoyed their day. When high school sweethearts get married, there may be a little bit more pep in my step and a bit more faith in love because let’s face it, that’s just really awesome.

Tiffany and Michael, it’s been so fun to get to know you both over the last several months and I’m so privileged to have photographed your wedding. After five-ish long years, you are finally husband and wife and I am so excited for you! Can’t wait to see where you two go from here!

Enjoy some of my favorites from their wedding!

Happy Thursday!

First look. I love it every time.

Fav.

Married!

This little girl was hilarious. SO fun to photograph.

I don’t usually show garter toss, but let’s be honest. This is epic.

I’ll close with these sweet pics. We stole away from the party to take a few more portraits in what I call, ‘yummy’ light.’ It’s my favorite time of day.

Take Me Back Tuesday | Life Lately – As Told By My iPhone

Life lately has been, well…a bit crazy. My suitcase seems to be more my closet than the real thing and my car and I have gotten way too close. What I love about my job is that I can work pretty much anywhere and my work takes me just about anywhere. However, like everything in life, every fun side has a down side. Unfortunately, things aren’t really going to slow down much until after the holidays so I’m tying a ribbon on to my suitcase to make it cuter. I might even put curtains on my car. You know, to make it feel more ‘homey.’ I can’t complain though because life is still sweet and I’m still loving it! I mean after all, when work takes you to the beaches of Florida and the hills of Missouri, you better count your blessings. So, here’s a quick little review of the last month of my crazy life. Thanks to my iPhone, I can keep track of my travels without having to always have my heavy camera in hand. Apple makes life better.

So, in the name of iPhones, beaches, Autumn and craziness,

I say, Take Me Back!

Happy Tuesday!
