Gorgeous Greens + Long Lashes: Emily Stylized Portrait Session

Meet Emily. She is my little sister and well, she is too beautiful for words….so I won’t say many and just let the images speak for themselves. With hair that will pretty much do anything you want it to, big green eyes that catch the light beautifully and eyelashes that L’oreal, Revlon and Maybelline would die to find, she is pretty much a photographer’s dream. We had a blast doing this shoot and so I can’t wait for you to scroll through. She was my very first model way back in high-school and so now it’s sort of just fun for us to do a session here and there.  We have both come a long way!  With a new wedding season about to hit hard, I wanted to do something fun, super relaxed and with just a hint of stylized vintage-flair! So, here is the result! I hope you enjoy. And don’t worry, I get depressed too about my eyelashes when I look at these. That’s why they created false eyelashes…for the rest of us less fortunate!

Happy Friday!

A Letter From Me and a Sneak Peek: Emily Portrait Session

Dear blogosphere,

It’s been almost a week since we have talked and I can’t help but feel like I’ve been neglecting you. Please, don’t take it personally. It’s not you…it’s me. I swear. Ok, maybe I shouldn’t swear because my mom wouldn’t really appreciate that, but I promise. Yeah, that’s better. I know that I’ve seemed distant these last few days but it will get better. It’s just that other things were calling my name. Don’t cry though! They could never replace you because you see, in the words of the late and great Whitney Houston, “I Will Always Love You.” We will talk again soon. I promise.”

Sincerely,

Me

Okay, in all seriousness, I haven’t abandoned the blog! Looking forward to some new posts coming up soon and also the introduction of some new series/installments to take place on here. Until then, here is a sneak peek of tomorrow’s blog post! A somewhat vintage/timeless inspired shoot with the ever-gorgeous Emily. Stay tuned to see more!

Happy Thursday!

If You Could Not Fail: A Friday Reflection

A long time ago, I was asked a pretty poignant question that has changed my life. No really, it did. Believe me, I’m not one to say such things very lightly and so I’d love to share it with you.

Now, I’m sure some of you are thinking, “Oh come on girl, please share. I need a double order of life change.” Others of you however are thinking, “Wait Mary, are you going to get all Dr. Phil on us with this life change stuff?” Don’t worry, I don’t have a mustache and I currently have all my hair on my head…hoping neither of those change. Though I can’t deny that being called Dr. Mary would be pretty awesome, being your personal self-help guru is not my plan. At least not today…

No, my hope is that for some of you this question will provide what it provided for me. A nudge. A reality check. A confrontation with your dreams. A chance to take a leap of faith. Because you see, no matter how you answer this question, it’s worth taking a moment (just a moment) to consider this. Who knows, you may find, like I did, that it’s worth the risk.

So, now I ask you, “What would you do if  you could not fail?”

Think about it.

(No joke I opened my Dove chocolate just a few weeks after being asked this question, only to find this reiterated. God has a sense of humor I think. He likes to drive certain points home. I now keep this as a reminder. Thanks Dove for your words of wisdom…and for your iniquitously delightful chocolate.)

Happy Friday!

Vintage-Inspired Stylized Shoot

Check out some of my work from a stylized shoot that I took part in a while back in Austin, TX! I would have loved to have shared these earlier but wedding season hit so I’m glad that I’m getting to as one of my first blog posts on the new site! I had such a blast and was giddy from start to finish. The ladies from Half Orange Photography did an amazing job at putting it together and Stems of Dallas did a wonderful job with the bouquet and head wreath. I loved it all. I hope you enjoy!

Happy Saturday…again!

It’s Official: The New Site is Here!

I am typically a woman of many words. If you have followed the old blog at all, you know this to be true of me. I love the idea that words can create, persuade and move, which is the same reason I love photography. However, today the cursor blinks at me. How to even begin this post?! Surely there is some witty remark or some creative analogy (because I’m the queen of analogies) that can express what is going on in my head? Surely.

However, as the cursor blinks on, I am at a loss for wit and creative comparison. You see, I am just simply excited! SO very excited! Elated. After many long hours of work and revision after revision, I am finally launching the new site! This has been in the works for a while now…hence my excitement…and so there just aren’t many words.  Instead there are a lot of smiles, sighs of relief and maybe a few squeals. Hey, I am a female. So, thanks for stopping by! Take a look around and maybe even subscribe to stay up with ‘Mary Fields!!!’ Can’t wait to share more of my work and what I love on this new site! Here’s to many more posts!

Happy Saturday!
