Take Me Back Tuesday | Spoiled

There are moments when I have to pinch myself. Well, maybe figuratively pinch myself cause my pain tolerance isn’t that high. In all seriousness though, there are times when I stop myself and ask, “Am I really getting to do this?” This meaning my dream job. That career that I had only wished for growing up but thought would never be a reality. That thing that literally makes me giddy (just ask my clients). That thing that I love.

One of these moments definitely happened last week on my latest trip for an engagement session in our nation’s capitol. As I walked around the city of Washington DC, I was struck by just how spoiled I really am. This is work? 90 percent of the time I feel guilty calling it that because it’s just so much fun. Don’t get me wrong, there is the 10 percent that keeps my feet on the ground because every job is indeed a job. However, there is no doubt that I am spoiled. Spoiled because I have great clients all over the nation. Spoiled because I get to do what I love. Spoiled because it brings me joy. Spoiled because it takes me on adventures and I LOVE adventures. Spoiled because life is sweet and blessed. Spoiled.

Usually spoiled is a bad thing but in my case, I’m not complaining! No, today, I am just grateful. Grateful for God’s undeserved blessings. May I never waste them…

So, in the name of being spoiled, adventures and doing what you love,

I say, Take Me Back!

(My goal had been to have all of my DC pics edited for today’s post, but since I got back late last night and since there were well over 1500…I suppose that will just have to wait. For now, enjoy a sneak peek of some of my travels. MUCH more to come later. DC is such a beautiful city and so of course, I was in heaven!)

Baby Blessings + A New England Trip

Oh dear, how to even begin this post?!?! Sometimes God’s blessings seem far away and other times, they come flooding in. This time, they are FLOODING!!! I am so excited to say that I will be an aunt TWICE in 2013!! How wonderful is that? My twin sister, Beth, and her husband, David, announced in September that they would be welcoming a little cutie this April. I took their fun announcement pictures in October when I was there visiting and have been meaning to do a post about their mini-session. However, not long after that, my older sister, Allison and her husband, Jacob, announced that they too would be welcoming a little one into our family next July! You can imagine the excitement in our family these last few months. My mother is literally beside herself with joy. Once I found out about Baby #2, I decided to wait to post them together.

So, here are a few favorites from their baby announcement sessions! I have already told both of them that I will officially be the ‘cool aunt.’ For obvious reasons…I mean definitely with Beth’s kids because let’s face it, I look like Mom. Who else can say that?!?! Oh the joys of 2012. Two sister’s weddings and TWO babies! We are blessed beyond measure!

On a completely different note, I am blogging this session from the airport. I am about to board a plane for none other than our nation’s capitol. It’s true! I love my job for so many reasons but one of them being that it enables me to travel! One of my April brides lives outside of Washington DC so we will be doing their engagement session this weekend. I, like my mother, am beside myself with joy! Stay posted for some awesome shots from their session coming soon! If you need me to pass along anything to our political leaders…I’m afraid I will be out of the office. If you want me to Instagram a pic of me in front of your favorite monument, don’t hesitate to let me know!!!

Happy Thursday!

[…] (J-Baby will arrive in July and my twin sister’s child, Baby G, will be making his/her appearance in April! They are waiting to find out the gender until the baby is born so watch out…I may have two nephews or one of each. My life is so blessed!) […]

Take Me Back Tuesday | Looking Forward to 2013

Well Internet, Happy New Year!!! I hope that you had a wonderful evening celebrating all that happened in 2012 and excitedly welcomed in the start of 2013!  I am in Austin, TX right now celebrating with friends but don’t worry, that isn’t keeping me from my Take Me Back post!! Today’s post is a little different as it is a mix both looking back and looking forward. I have been told many times that without goals, we will not be effective. Not matter what facet of life. While I haven’t been the best at putting this in to practice, it is one of my many New Year’s Resolutions to do so. As I look back on 2012 and all that has transpired with my business, I am so unbelievably grateful and amazed. What a year I had!!! If you had asked me this time last year where I’d be today, I would never have thought it would be here. I’m not complaining though! So, being the sentimental soul that I am, I am taking some time to reflect on all the ‘victories’ I had in 2012. These are just a snippet of them since there are really too many to count…I love that I just got to use the word snippet. Anyway, in light of my victories, I am ALSO taking some time to set some goals for 2013. You can help keep me accountable as I know these will be difficult! As the 2013 calendar is already halfway full, I am anxiously awaiting all that is ahead. It is shaping up to be yet another year of growth and challenges and I can’t wait to face them! Here’s to all that was 2012 and excitedly looking forward to 2013!!

So, in the name of goals, victories and New Year’s,

I say, Take Me Back!

2012 In Review | Wow

Wow.

That’s all that I can really come up with to say about 2012. I am practically speechless as I take a minute to look back on the year that is now behind me. So amazed at all that has happened, the crazy amount of pictures I have taken, the places I have been and the wonderful people I have had the opportunity to work with. It has been a whirlwind of a year for Mary Fields’ Photography and for myself, sweeping past me with such great force and magnitude that I hardly know where it went. It has been a year of ups and of course downs, with joys and struggles. Most of all though, it has been a year of amazing growth, both in business and in life. A special thank you today to all of my wonderful clients, family and friends. Thank you for your consistent encouragement, for believing in me and for allowing me to be part of your lives. It is a great privilege and  I am unbelievably blessed. So blessed, that today on this New Year’s Eve, I am left with one thing to say.

Wow.

Happy New Year’s Monday!!!

Enjoy some of my favorite images of 2012! What a walk down memory lane!!

The Heydel’s | A Winter Family Session | Dallas, TX

Abbie has been one of my best friends for the last 4 years or so and I can’t tell you how wonderful she is. We met while being counselors together at Kanakuk Kamps and then spent a year together going through a Bible training program at the Kanakuk Institute. It was there that her love story with Will began and a little over a year later, I was standing with them on their wedding day. Not long after that, they welcomed into the world the most precious little girl! She is seriously WAY too cute and I adore her. This past August, Abbie and Will made me one of the happiest girls by moving to Dallas!!! What a glorious day for me! Getting to do life alongside this beautiful family is such a blessing. When Abbie asked me to take some family photos, I was of course pumped. Not to mention, their little session had an even more exciting purpose…to announce Baby #2!!!! Oh be still my heart, another cutie like this one and I may not be able to take it!

Enjoy some of my favorites from their family session!

Happy Saturday!

Sally Heydel - December 29, 2012 - 7:11 pm

I must agree with you about everything you said! But I’m a little biased. Cutest thing ever! – I got her the boots – gotta have cowboy boots to live in Texas! Love the pics and look forward to many more as the new little one grows.

Sally (Will’s very proud mom)
