Klyde Warren Park & White Rock Lake Engagement | Jennifer + Seth

They were friends first although he was definitely interested. One night they were hanging out in a group at the park and her flip flop broke. He offered to help her by letting her wear his own shoes. She felt bad and didn’t accept which made him think, ‘This girl is definitely not interested.’ He would find out later that she was definitely interested…interested enough to agree to forever. His proposal for forever included a few important places in their relationship as so of course, that park had to be on the list.

I met these two separately and before they were an us. So, it is so fun to have watched them before they dated and to see how their relationship has grown as they have fallen in love. We had a blast shooting their engagement session in preparation for their wedding this month! I always love when my couples make each other laugh during a session because it shows me a little insight into the way they interact as a couple. To me, laughter is such an important component to a relationship so I love seeing how it comes out in front of the camera. These two laughed a lot during their session and they made me laugh to which always makes for a fun evening. I can’t wait to see where these two go as Mr. and Mrs. and I can’t wait to be part of their special day in just a few weeks!

Waiting For McLane | Jeff and Sarah | Maternity

I don’t get to do maternity sessions very often but when I do, I am reminded of the excitement that comes with new life. I feel like it is such a privilege for me to be able to join in the fun by documenting the waiting of such a precious child! Jeff and Sarah are truly one of the most wonderful couples and in my few hours with them, I came away feeling so encouraged. They have been married for five years and yet, I felt like I was photographing an engaged couple because of the way they interacted so sweetly with one another. It was evident that they are still so very much in love and that is such an encouraging thing to witness! It was clear to me that not only do they love each other well but they love other people well too. I have no doubt that little McLane Grace will feel this kind of love and more when she enters the world!

We met up at a friend’s home in Prosper, TX which had lots of land, a horse stable and a little pond/dock. You know I was in heaven! The peacefulness of the property fit perfectly with the peacefulness of this couple! We had a blast walking around and shooting this maternity session. Jeff not only made Sarah laugh the whole time but I was cracking up too which made for a grand ole time. Jeff and Sarah, thanks for your encouragement and the way you blessed me with your prayer! You two have been such a joy to work with and I can’t wait to see you as parents. I am confident that the Lord has wonderful plans for your growing family and I am also confident that it will include lots of laughter!

Louder Than Words |The Ultimate Artist

I was editing this photo this week, a very small snapshot from my destination wedding in Costa Rica earlier this summer, and it occurred to me…sometimes a picture really does speak louder than words. I think this one is saying, God is the ultimate artist. But, I’ll think I’ll let it speak for itself…

Take Me Back Tuesday | The Place That Built Me

There’s a country song by Miranda Lambert that I kind of love. Not even sure why but being the sentimental soul that I am, it probably has something to do with the idea of a ‘place that built you.’ That’s what it’s called actually, ‘The House That Built Me,’ and I’m sure if I listened to the words a little bit closer, it might not seem that fitting but when I hear it on the radio, I just kind of love it. You see, I had the greatest childhood. A home where both of my parents were not only present but involved and not only involved but loving. We laughed a TON in my house and we still do. We danced through the hallways as a family (for real) and built forts in the living room. We made up our own traditions and had a blast as we held on to them. Our home was quite ordinary in many ways but in others it was nothing short of extraordinary. The two homes I grew up in were places where life happened for me and not just any kind of life. A rich kind of life. The city I lived in was more of a town and so while I didn’t know everyone, I could drive around and always see someone who was more than an acquaintance. I had sweet friends. I was part of a wonderful God-fearing church. I was cared for. I felt safe. It was home.

This weekend, I will go back to that city, I will drive past the two homes I was raised in, I will walk through the halls of my high school and I will see people who I haven’t seen in ages. I will reminisce about days gone by and I will remember things that I haven’t thought about since I left. I will literally ‘go back’ and I am excited. You see, though I am giving away my age which you should never do, I confess that this weekend is my 10 year high school reunion. Yep, they talk about that on graduation day as people are giving their farewell speeches. They speak of coming back here ten years from now and where everyone will be. At the time, it all seems way too foreign and far off. Now, ten years later, I am wondering where the time went. Well, I am anxious to get back and to be able to join with Miranda in sharing sentiments over the house, the people and the place that ‘built me.’

So, in the name of a wonderful childhood and returning home,

I Say, Take Me Back!

(Below is me in front of my childhood home a few months ago when I was there for a bridal session. I stayed with some friends across the street and my sentimental side was going a bit nuts…So many fun memories within these walls, on that driveway and in the treehouse in the backyard.)

McKinney Flour Mill Wedding | Laura + Adam

They met one night while out with friends in Lubbock, TX…neither one of them having any idea how it would change their lives. She was with her girlfriends and he was with his buddies. When she walked in the room, he noticed this gorgeous blonde and so did his friend. Without her having any idea, they debated about who should go talk to her and so of course, they flipped a coin. What else would they do, right? Well, as fate would have it…he lost. It would seem that they just weren’t meant to be. However, if there is anything I’ve learned about my couple’s love stories, it’s that things have a funny way of working out. You see, that didn’t stop them as eventually, these two hit it off and that coin toss became just a fun part of their story. A few years later, these two were standing in front of friends and family, laughing about the story of that first night, and vowing forever. It was a beautiful summer day and Adam and Laura were so ready to say, ‘I Do.’ Their McKinney Flour Mill wedding was one of sweet details, lots of laughter and lots of celebration as these two got to hold hands and become Mr. and Mrs.

Perhaps my favorite part of the day was captured in one of their last images at the photo booth. Adam is a lover of hunting and had all kinds of fun hunting details incorporated into their wedding day, even down to the hunting dogs on his bow tie. Well, at the end of the evening, some of his friends drew his hunting dog on a chalkboard with the phrase, ‘The Hunt is Over.’ It was a perfect symbol of the excitement of the day. Although, the hunt may be over but the adventure is just beginning.

Adam and Laura, thank you for letting me be a part of your joyous day! I wish I could have been a fly on the wall that day in Lubbock to watch it all begin! Instead though, I’m glad I got to be there as you started a new beginning in marriage. Can’t wait to see how this adventure unfolds for the two of you! Wishing you many years of happily ever after!

Enjoy some of my favs from their special day! Laura did SUCH an amazing job on the details that I was a very happy camper! The jewel tones are just way too gorgeous.
