Oh, where do I even begin! This couple. This country. This light. This sunset!!!
Today’s Take Me Back is extra special because well…I REALLY want to go back! I was in heaven shooting here and I feel so privileged to call this my job. This summer I got to travel to the country of Costa Rica and capture the destination wedding of this beautiful couple. Steve and Alisa met in college and dated long distance for quite a while as their jobs and careers kept them in different places. It was all worth it though when, years later, they finally got to live in the same city and the rest is history. With his family being from New York and her family being from Texas, they decided that they would have their wedding celebration in a place totally unique. Both being adventurers who loved the outdoors and being active, they wanted a place that had options for them and their guests to explore the country. After hearing some about the Equatorial country of Costa Rica, they were sold and started planning their destination wedding.
It was a beautiful evening and though the daily rain clouds threatened to interrupt their beach setting, it held off and created the most beautiful backdrop instead. Guests sat along the shore of the Pacific and watched as Steve awaited the appearance of his beautiful bride. Alisa came through the trees and putting her bare feet in the sand, she walked toward the love of her life. The salty wind blew and the ocean roared as these two promised forever and I stopped, pulled my camera away from my eyes, wanting to take in what was happening. It was a beautiful sight and one I won’t quickly forget. They promised forever, sealed it with a kiss and spent the evening celebrating with their closest friends and family. After the ceremony, we walked along the shoreline and took some portraits as the sun faded behind the horizon. I of course was in HEAVEN! The clouds turned an amazing shade of purple and against the aqua water…it all didn’t even look real. A canvas that I could have only dreamed of.
Steve and Alisa, I can’t thank you enough for including me on such an epic trip and such a lovely wedding. Definitely one of the highlights for me in my years as a wedding photographer and one that reminds me how lucky I am! You two welcomed Julie and I in to your celebration with such kindness and we had such a blast with your friends and family. I hope the warmth of your Costa Rican wedding is only the start of countless warm and happy years together! Oh, and thanks for putting up with my ridiculous giddiness as this light came in!
