Behind the Scenes with MFP | Part 5 | Pure Ridiculousness

It’s been a fun week of ‘Behind the Scenes with MFP’ and I hate to see it come to a close! Being the sentimental soul that I am, I love to reminisce about fun times I’ve had doing this fun job. It reminds me to be thankful that I get to do it and that I get to make so many wonderful memories with so many wonderful people. To close out the week of seeing me from a different perspective, I thought I’d go out with a bang and show you some pure ridiculousness…cause let’s be honest…if you saw me behind the lens you would know there is plenty of that!

Here’s to celebrating a wonderful year of fun memory making with MFP!

Happy Friday!

PureRidiculousness_0025

I’m in a window…how many jobs have you do that? PureRidiculousness_0026

Always on the move…sometimes requires running.  PureRidiculousness_0125

Pink eye + shoot with gloves.  PureRidiculousness_0126 PureRidiculousness_0127

I’m expressive….what can I say? PureRidiculousness_0128

Can’t get too close because I’m highly contagious.  PureRidiculousness_0129 PureRidiculousness_0130

No words. PureRidiculousness_0131 PureRidiculousness_0132 PureRidiculousness_0133 PureRidiculousness_0134

Being sick won’t keep me from dancing! PureRidiculousness_0135

This is what happens when you’ve been shooting all day with pink eye. It’s not pretty but it’s real. Please notice the woman in the bottom frame who is definitely judging me. Can’t blame her. PureRidiculousness_0136

That time I got to go to Costa Rica for a wedding and went deep sea fishing. Naturally I had to kiss the fish. Duh. PureRidiculousness_0137 PureRidiculousness_0138

Worst. Photo.Of.Me.EVER. Can’t believe I’m posting but it’s just purely ridiculous so I had to.  PureRidiculousness_0139 PureRidiculousness_0140

I have no idea what I was trying to do.  PureRidiculousness_0141 PureRidiculousness_0142

We were standing under this tree because it was POURING rain and the ceremony hadn’t even started… PureRidiculousness_0143

I don’t know why but for some reason, I’m always losing a shoe. See last years post to compare. PureRidiculousness_0144 PureRidiculousness_0145

No idea. But that is my pointer finger for those who are wondering.  PureRidiculousness_0146

Running again.
PureRidiculousness_0147

They tell me I’m expressive. Can’t see why. PureRidiculousness_0148

Yep…running again. PureRidiculousness_0149

Shocked by the wave. Apparently standing in the ocean wasn’t clue enough that Id probably get hit by one. Smart, Mary. Smart.
PureRidiculousness_0150 I’m usually on a stool so this is a bit different. PureRidiculousness_0151 PureRidiculousness_0152

It was windy and I desperately needed her help to save me from embarrassment. Desperately. PureRidiculousness_0153

Again, not sure why people think I’m expressive. PureRidiculousness_0154

This was my ‘Bam! I’m engaged!’ face!

PureRidiculousness_0155

And oh yes, had to end with this gem. That time I got a major goose egg while I was on a bridal shoot. Who knew being a photographer was so dangerous… PureRidiculousness_0156

I’ll close with this! Me + camera in hand + beautiful place + working with beautiful people = the sum of my year behind the lens! So thankful! PureRidiculousness_0157

Behind the Scenes with MFP | Part 4 | #shorgirlprobz

Merry Christmas!!! See my holiday post here for some Christmas cheer and truth!

Today, I’m continuing  my annual series of ‘Behind the Scenes with MFP’ for Part 4! I love this series because it’s something totally different and allows me to laugh at what goes on behind the lens. It’s not always pretty but it’s full of good memories. So enjoy!

Let’s kick it off with a series I like to call : #shortgirlprobz   As I short girl, I have to find ways to get around my height and sometimes they are just comical. But hey, it works!

ShortGirlProbz_0017 ShortGirlProbz_0018

Got to find whatever I can to boost my height.  ShortGirlProbz_0019 ShortGirlProbz_0020 Sometimes you just have to stand in a window… ShortGirlProbz_0021 ShortGirlProbz_0022

Yes, that is a child’s stool. I was in Costa Rica which meant I had to leave my stool at home and this was the best the resort could do. Don’t judge.  ShortGirlProbz_0023 ShortGirlProbz_0024

The next series is called: Over my shoulder

A Merry Christmas from MFP

Merry Christmas to all of you blog followers! I hope that today is filled with laughter, good food, sweet time with family and a lot of relaxation! Most importantly though, I hope that in the midst of the celebration, we are moved to consider the real reason for our joy. Presents are wonderful but they will not endure. Family is oh so sweet but we cannot hang on to our loved ones forever. Food is delicious but it too will not satisfy for long. All of the components of our Christmas celebration are momentary joys that will dissipate over time and they will not bring eternal satisfaction. That is why I am grateful for the truth that Christ is eternally enduring and His life gives us reason to celebrate that will extend not just through the length of our earthly days, but long after into the depths of eternity. His birth is made even more wonderful in light of the cross on which He died as a substitute for each one of us. His birth was quiet and humble but it was also overwhelmingly invasive for all of humanity as it monumentally changed the course of eternity for those that would choose Him. This time of year is often catch phrased with ‘The Magic of the Season’ and in many ways it is magical. But in so many more, this season is beautifully tangible in its implications for salvation. I hope that each one of us will stop in the midst of our Christmas celebrations, putting aside the new gifts and the joys of being together, to consider what is much more significant and enduring.

The birth of Jesus Christ. The reason for the season.

And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” -Luke 2:9-14

Behind the Scenes with MFP | Part 3 | A Life Saver

Well, Internet, I wrote yesterday about being spoiled with the most amazing clients and I have to say, today’s post is about me being even more spoiled. Rotten would be the term. You see, I need to make a public declaration of thanks to a woman who has helped MFP more than words can even express. She has been at about 90% of my weddings over the last two years and has spent much of that time making my life so much easier. She carries stools, changes batteries, gets me water, makes me eat when I forget, pins boutonnieres like a boss, ties bows for EVERYONE (serious bow tying skills), tests light for me, organizes family photos, fixes stray hairs, acts as my personal GPS, keeps me sane, TAKES BEAUTIFUL PICTURES and overall makes my life as a wedding photographer SO much better. She is a gem and I am SO very thankful for her. She is a Life Saver and her name is Julie.

Julie, I can’t thank you enough for the hours you put in to help MFP. Literally you have given blood, sweat and even a few tears (mostly from laughing at me). Not to mention lots of bug bites, scratches and body aches. All of that mixed with many hours that you could have been sleeping! You know what I need before I need it and you have become such an asset to my business. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being such a wonderful assistant! In honor of all that you do, I am dedicating this post to you…and don’t worry…only half of the photos are embarrassing.

Happy Wednesday!

Behind the Scenes with MFP |Part 2 | To My Wonderful Clients

It’s Take Me Back Tuesday during my annual ‘Behind the Scenes with MFP’ and I couldn’t think of a better kind of take me back for this than to show you all of my amazing 2014 clients! Every year of my business, I am amazed at how God blesses me with the most wonderful people to work with. Seriously, I love my job but if my clients weren’t enjoyable and trusting people, it would be difficult. This is amazingly NOT the case! Year after year I get to December and look back at all the couples that have trusted me to capture their special day and I think to myself, ‘I am SO spoiled!’ These couples below are some of the most thoughtful, trusting, caring, easy-going and loving people and I count myself ridiculously blessed to call them both clients and friends.

To each of my couples, THANK YOU for believing in me enough to let me document one of the most special days in your life. I know that hiring your wedding photographer is a big deal and one that requires so much trust. I don’t take that lightly and I will always be so honored that you chose me. You all make my job so very fun and rewarding and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to make up my 2014 wedding season. I hope the images I have delivered will serve as MY thank you for your belief in me and that you will cherish them all the days of your lives together. So thankful for each one of you!

So, in the name of incredibly amazing 2014 Mary Fields’ Couples and another year of being spoiled,

I Say, Take Me Back!
