Take Me Back Tuesday | Remember that Time

My roommate and I have this saying…and we say it a lot. “Remember that time…(insert some statement we want to say.)” It often times has nothing to do with the past but more just a humorous twist on a current statement. “Remember that time I was so exhausted I couldn’t move? Remember that time I was so hungry I thought I could die? Remember that time I’ve needed to do laundry for the last two weeks? Remember that time I needed to get my life under control?”

Yep, it’s a constant conversation. Who knows how it got started because it doesn’t actually make sense. Regardless, it’s a phrase I use quite often so for today’s Take Me Back post, it seems fitting. It has been a CRAZY spring/start to summer for Mary Fields Photography but I’m not complaining! I haven’t had much time to breathe but I’m still going strong. I just may have many “Remember that time my life is out of control?” moments. So in honor of my ‘crazy life,’ today’s post is a look at what I’ve been up to on a more social sphere through the lens of my iPhone. I do manage to have a little bit of a social life these days…believe it or not.

So, in the name of crazy days, busy seasons and ‘Remembering that time,”

I Say, Take Me Back!

Allison + Jacob | Maternity | J Baby

Oh, Internet. Life lately has been so rich for my family. My little sister and brother-in-law  just celebrated their first anniversary! I cannot believe it has been a whole year! My twin sister’s little boy (my birthday triplet) is going on two months old and I CANNOT wait to see his precious face in two days! Not only that, but my second nephew is due to arrive a month from yesterday and I am pumped! My oldest sister, Allison and her husband, Jacob, found out they were expecting a new addition to their family last fall and we have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of their son. You may remember their super cute reveal party earlier this year. Being from a family of all girls, finding out there would be a boy to raise was quite the surprise! Keeping the name a surprise, we have lovingly nicknamed this little cutie ‘J Baby.’ Allison is incredibly fun-loving, tender-hearted, wise and compassionate. She will make the BEST mom. Jacob is dependable, faithful, steady and wise. He will make the BEST dad. I cannot wait to see them as parents as I know they will love and raise that precious little boy in a way that honors God.

So much joy. So much to be thankful for. So much to celebrate! God continues to be so faithful to my precious family!

(I am so blessed to be in a line of work that can be used to document precious seasons of life for my family. I had a lot of fun doing Allison and Jacob’s maternity session…even if it was early morning! Crazy to think I did their engagement portraits way back in the day and now here we find ourselves. Time flies when you’re having fun!)

Hot Mama!!

You can bet J Baby will be a Sooner born and bred!

Allison, you are just lovely. You were pregnancy so well!

Sarah + Alex | A Spring Fort Worth, TX Wedding

Babe, you look STUNNING! Look at your dress!!!’ he said to her as he gazed at his bride-to-be. He took in her beauty, smiling at her in a way that made her turn and wipe away tears. It was a sweet moment on a beautiful day.

Alex and Sarah have an incredibly romantic story as they met in Italy about 7 years ago on a study abroad trip with their universities. I mean, seriously, who wouldn’t want to fall in love in Italy?!? They started visiting each other a year later and the rest is history. As Sarah says, “I was lucky to have found my ‘perfect fit’ in Alex.” During the ceremony, it was shared that one of the first things Sarah noticed about her time with Alex was how much he made her laugh. She’s been laughing from the beginning and she was laughing on her wedding day. Luckily for Alex, Sarah has one of the most beautiful smiles. They’ve been through a lot together over the last 7 years and are both excited to continue walking hand in hand in this journey of marriage.

Sarah and Alex, I was so very privileged to be able to share in such a special day with you two! Thanks for making me laugh along with you and for always being willing to ‘put your heads together.’ As you know…it’s my favorite! Wishing you the best as Mr. and Mrs.!!!

Enjoy some of my favs from their spring wedding in Fort Worth!

Happy Friday!

Love me some Tiffany blue.

Alex’s one request for a photo. Looking good gentlemen.

Love. Love. Love.

Sarah, you were absolutely a STUNNING bride.

Oh girls, too much gorgeousness. They rocked this face.

See…LOTS of laughter.

Ok, Internet, my new favorite thing. A food truck to cater your wedding?!?! Seriously…SO COOL.

Loved this venue.

Take Me Back Tuesday | Return to the Ozarks

For three years of my life and 7 summers, I have lived in the beautiful Ozark hills of Missouri. I didn’t appreciate them until I moved to Dallas where, well, we are lacking in rolling hills. I love those hills more than I realized and in so many ways, they are more home to me than anything else. It was because of this that my plans started to develop. I had one ‘weekend’ off in a span of about 4 months so as I was looking at my calendar, I had an idea. How fun would it be to take my Dallas friends to spend a few days in those rolling hills where we could explore God’s beautiful creation and get away from the big city?!?! SO wonderful, I thought. I began to pass the word around and started to gather interest. Miraculously, it came together at the last-minute and so 11 of us headed out over Memorial Day weekend.

What a blast we had! Our cabin was beautiful and tucked away in the middle of nowheresville Arkansas. If you have never been to Nowheresville….I highly recommend it! The view was unbelievable, the countryside glowing, the sounds were a soft murmur of natural things and the company was sweet. For two days we hiked the countryside, climbed up river beds, caved on our hands and knees, played yard games, ate good food beneath the night sky, laughed and just enjoyed each other’s company. My kind of weekend. It was just simply wonderful and exactly what the Dr. ordered. While I enjoy my life here in Dallas, those rolling and quiet hills will always be home to me.

So, in the name of Nowheresville, rolling hills, outdoor adventures and good fellowship,

I Say, Take Me Back!

(I made myself leave the Canon 5D Mark III at home so that I could enjoy the trails without worrying. Instead I brought along my trusty ole 50D so excuse the quality. I’m pretty sure the camera got wet in my bag while we were caving so it was a good decision. Plus, I decided it was important to have a few days ‘off’ so I didn’t even take that many. Crazy, right?)

The view from our back porch. Oh how I miss these kinds of views…

Hiking crew!!! This was right before we did a 5 mile hike. 2.5 miles straight down to a waterfall…which meant 2.5 miles straight back up. Killer but worth it.

Favorite photo of the weekend. We are like SO hard core.

I’m pretty much a hiking beast, Internet. Pretty much. I mean…I even wore Chacos.

Not sure what is going on here but I’m guessing they are giving each other support. So sweet.

At night, we would come back and just sit out on the back porch and play games, talk about life and laugh…we laughed a lot.

Chelsea, playing this game with you was QUITE entertaining!

I’ll close with this one because I love it. Just a group of friends, out in God’s creation, enjoying a quiet evening of fun and fellowship under the night sky.

Bekah’s Bridals | Frankford Historic Chapel | Addison,TX

This beautiful bride got married on Saturday so I finally get to show off some of my favs from her bridal session! Bekah is the sweetest and most laid-back bride which let’s be honest…as a wedding photographer, what else could you ask for?!?! She married the love of her life this past weekend and it was a wonderful celebration. More to come from her fun Texas inspired wedding soon but until then, enjoy some of her bridals. She introduced me to the most fun little location here in Dallas. It’s an old historic schoolhouse that is now a chapel and just happens to be surrounded by the most wonderful patch of yellow wildflowers. Needless to say, I was in heaven! Enjoy!

Happy Monday!
