Take Me Back Tuesday | When I Grew Up | A Belated Birthday Bash

It’s a fun day. I am writing this from a hospital room in Oklahoma as my sister is holding her new baby boy and my new nephew! I am smitten and can’t wait to share some of his newborn pics. Until then, here is a far different post about a recent birthday party we had this past weekend.

My birthday was in April and my roommates and I had planned to celebrate with a costume party but well…my other nephew was born on my birthday. So, I celebrated instead with a trip to Orlando to see that precious face. My roommate, Kay, had a birthday in early June so we decided to celebrate with a joint belated party last weekend. Why not draw out the celebration as much as I can, right?! Since I LOVE costume parties, we decided to go with the theme ‘When I Grew Up,’ inspired by everything 80s and 90s. Whether it be white wash jeans, bowl cut hair styles, pogs, Giga pets, Saved By the Bell, Walkmans or Jazzercise, all of it brought back memories of a great childhood that doesn’t even seem that long ago. Actually, my childhood is making a comeback to the shelves and racks of every major clothing store these days. Weird. Who would have thought when I went shopping for my 90s throwback party that I would find myself at Forever 21?!? I don’t know how I feel about that. Literally everything screamed Kelly Kapowski. I’m fairly resistant to it but six months from now I’ll probably be wearing white wash jeans, overalls and everything neon.
