Checking Off the Bucket List | Headed to Greece

Maybe it’s the fact that I love adventure. Maybe it’s the fact that God’s creation makes my heart sing. Maybe it’s because I have an insatiable curiosity that comes with exploration. Or maybe because God has just wired me this way…but I LOVE travel. I do. When I see a picture of a place I’ve never been, my heart skips a beat and I immediately start dreaming of how I can get there. My friends know that if I’ve been in Dallas too long I begin to get a bit anxious. While I don’t want to be a woman who can’t stay put, I also don’t want to ignore the nudging I have deep down to see the world. Especially at a time in life when I can. I’m sure there are days coming when, for whatever reason, I am not as free to book a flight and go. So, last November I decided it was time for an adventure. I booked my trip (more on the specifics when I return) and it’s crazy how fast it has arrived! You see, tomorrow I head off on a trip that is at the top of my bucket list…Greece.

Now if you don’t know what a bucket list is, it is a compilation of all the things you want to do before you ‘kick the bucket.’ Morbid? Maybe, but I think it’s actually awesome. A list of things that are important for you to do in your lifetime?!?! Sounds like goal-setting to me which is almost always a good idea. Greece has been on my bucket list ever since I saw the movie, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Don’t judge. It was an awesome movie and let’s be real, what girl didn’t want to spend the summer in Santorini and marry Kostas!?!? Am I right?! I’m so right. Well, that started the interest in the Mediterranean country and then I spent a year at the Kanakuk Institute, studying God’s Word and learning about the journeys of the Apostle Paul throughout modern-day Greece. This peaked my interest in a much more meaningful way than Kostas and I decided it needed to be at the top of my ‘list.’ So, when the opportunity arose to see this gorgeous country, walk where Paul walked and to even do some work while I was there…I of course couldn’t resist.

Excited is a severe understatement. I leave tomorrow and I can’t hardly sit still. With almost two weeks in this gorgeous country,  I will have so many pictures to share when I return. The blog will still be going while I’m gone so make sure to check back on the regular days (Monday, Tuesday and Friday)!

Until then, I will say…

αντίο!!!!

(That’s Goodbye in Greek…I’m such a natural…or really I just Googled it….)
