Take Me Back Tuesday | A Trip to the Windy City | Chicago, IL

One of the greatest things about my job is the fact that I get to travel! I LOVE to travel so this makes me a VERY happy camper. Photography and particularly wedding photography has taken me all over the country and fingers crossed, I’m hoping that will turn international (if anyone wants a photographer for their elopement, destination wedding, engagement or ‘just for fun’ shoot abroad…let me know!!!). In the last year of my business, it has been so fun to see all the places ‘work’ has taken me. In the last 5 months I’ve been to wonderful places like Washington DC, St. Petersburg, FL and now my travels have taken me to the Windy City!

This past weekend I had a wedding just outside of Chicago (can’t wait to post pictures of that beautiful day) and so my second shooter and friend, Julie, and I decided we should make a fun girls trip out of it! Our friend, Kay, flew in on Saturday to join and we spent a couple days just exploring Chi-town. We were stand-out tourists with our cameras and ‘stop every few minutes to look’ pace, but we didn’t care. The Windy City was INDEED windy but it treated us well. In the beginning I attempted to brush my hair back in to a controlled state but I eventually just embraced the ‘wind blown look.’ Work it…that’s what I’d tell my clients. The city was at the peak of its spring blooms and so I spent the majority of the time ‘ooing’ and ‘awing’, desperately wishing I had a couple to photograph underneath the blossoms. Luckily my friends were willing to stand in for a few. They appease me.

So, in the name of travel, spring blossoms and the wind-blown look,

I Say, Take Me Back!

The Bean. We had to.

I’m officially a dork in front of the camera but I’ve decided to embrace it!

This is significant for all you Kanakukers out there! I’ve spent a good part of my life on Lake Shore Drive!

Oklahoma in Chicago! I was excited!

The Chicago Tribune was probably one of my favorite parts of the trip. They had pieces of buildings from all over the world and this quote is just awesome.

This advertisement was ALL over the city! A little bit of our city in the Midwest! Crazy!

This guy was DEFINITELY jamming on this old boom box. Too awesome for words.

We had to.

The Trump tower…that we thought was the Sears tower. Oops.

I LOVE the Joffrey ballet! Brought back fun childhood memories.

We found the real Sears Tower…and a unicyclist.

Well hello, Lake Michigan. You look like the ocean. Just sayin.

We were high up…to say the least. The Bradford Pear trees I spent the whole time drooling over. Are these not breathtaking?!?!

Portrait time!

It was cold…probably the last time I’ll wear my coat for a while.

Get it girls. I have taught them well…

This fountain was A-mazing.

Again, such a dork.

Julie is a champ. She is second shooting a good majority of my weddings with me this year and is a trooper. Thanks for being such a help and a good friend!

Wrigley field.

You might be dorky, but you’re stunning as well. Gorgeous, my friend, gorgeous. The pics of you don’t do you justice.
