When these two are together, there are smiles all around. They make each other smile effortlessly…followed by a true belly laugh and then, well then everyone around them can’t help but break into a big grin as well. Their love, their laughter and their joy is contagious.
Marriage is such a beautiful thing because it is really you and your best friend. What I love about these two is that when they are together, they are completely at home. They are truly each other’s best friend and it shows on their faces. They get each other, they enjoy one another, they make each other laugh like no one else can and they understand that this kind of love and affection…this kind of relationship is a gift.
When I first met Katie, it was over Skype and we talked all about how she and Dalton met, fell in love and got engaged. It was clear that this lady was made up of pure joy and while I think a lot of it was because she was marrying the love of her life, I had a sense that more than that, she was just truly a joyful person. The more we talked the more I was sure of it. When Katie is in the room, you can expect to feel completely at ease and you can expect to laugh. Well, when I met Dalton, this made even more sense. He was just the same. Brought effortless laughter and smiles, making anyone feel right at home. Watching them together was even more fun because they only brought that out more in each other. These two were so excited to get married and to start their lives together. In fact, I can remember clearly at the end of their engagement session as Katie and I were talking about the logistics of the wedding. I turned to Dalton and asked him what he thought. He replied with absolute resolve. ‘As long as I get Katie at the end of all this, I’m good! Doesn’t matter to me!’
Well, their wedding day was beautiful, set at Starlight Canyon in Amarillo, TX, close to the famous Palo Duro Canyon. The canyon walls surrounded the venue creating the perfect setting for them to say ‘I Do.’ It was a hot day but the evening cooled with the most lovely light and they celebrated amongst family and friends. Vows were said, toasts were given, hugs exchanged, and everything left on the dance floor. If I could have bottled up all the laughter…I would have. It was an evening to remember.
Dalton and Katie, you truly are a special couple and a blessing to be around. You love each other well and you bring a crazy amount of joy to the people around you. I know that your marriage will only cause that joy to increase! Thanks for letting me be part of such a wonderful day in your lives and I look forward to watching the rest of your journey unfold!
