Take Me Back Tuesday | Vacation, Family and Memory-Making

Vacation_0001

Oh, it was just plain wonderful. It was a perfect vacation and I have to be honest in saying, I didn’t want to leave. Reality is always better in the end but sometimes you have to remind yourself of that because, well…when your toes are dug into the sand, the saltwater is washing over your feet with such pleasant consistency, the sound of the waves is lulling you into rest and the sun is kissing your skin…it can be hard to remember that. Real hard. We have been planning this trip for a little while now but I am still amazed that we pulled it off. My family is spread a good distance apart and we all have busy lives that can keep us from all being together very often. To get everyone in the same place for an extended amount of time is quite miraculous so I thank the Lord that He allowed it to happen. If you know me at all, you know that there are some things that I am very passionate about that drive a lot of what I do. A few of those include 1. Time with my family and 2. Making memories. Both of those things were nurtured on this trip, thereby making it a great success. Not to mention, that I did something incredible on this vacation. Drum roll, please!!!! I RESTED! It was glorious. We did absolutely nothing but lay on the beach, swim in the ocean, make sandcastles with my nephews and relax. Oh, sure we got our blood pumping here and there with some frisbee throwing and I may have even gone on a run along the beach…but even that was rejuvenating. I highly recommend this style of vacay because in a world that encourages you to never slow down, we need to remember that God set an example for us by resting. I am not good at this, in fact I’m pretty terrible, BUT I’m learning.

So, in the name of family, memory-making, and beach vacays,

I Say, Take Me Back!

We had the joy of vacationing with my brother-in-law’s family and it was a blast! They are the sweetest and most welcoming family and we felt so blessed to get to share this time with them! Vacation_0002

I may be biased…but I have the cutest nephews. Just sayin’. Vacation_0003

Oh, how I love these women. I consider myself undeserving to call them family and more importantly, to call them friends.  Vacation_0004

First time these little feet ever touched sand. I hope you love it, little one, as much as your Aunt Mae Mae.  Vacation_0005 Vacation_0006 Vacation_0007

Be still, my heart.  Vacation_0008 Vacation_0009

Can you tell that I love being an aunt?

Got up with the sun one day and it was totally worth it! Vacation_0013 Vacation_0014 Vacation_0015 Vacation_0016 Vacation_0017 Vacation_0018 Vacation_0019 Vacation_0020

Here is the whole crew! In a way God can only orchestrate, I ran in to a fellow photographer on the beach and so we agreed to swap services for the week. She was there with her family and we both talked about how hard it is to get good pictures on vacation. Most passerbys can’t work our cameras so we joined forces. She is the sweetest and so if you are ever in Georgia and need a photographer, check out my friend Suni. Find her here!
