Take Me Back Tuesday | She Got Her A Pair O’ Boots

Well, it happened.

I have been living in the State of Texas for almost two years now. Crazy. SO crazy. It’s been a wild ride and since that time I’ve been thinking about getting some cowboy boots but I kept talking myself out of it. Number one I tend to be a little on the cheap side and number two, I didn’t know how I felt about taking on THAT much of the Texas side of my life. I am from Oklahoma after all. Of course, in reality they do wear cowboy boots there as well. Yeah, now that I think about it, my logic was fairly ridiculous.

Anyway, I would periodically think to myself, ‘Maybe it’s time to get a pair o’ boots.’ And yes, I had to really use the ‘o’ instead of ‘of.’ Hello?!?! We are talking about cowboy boots here! It’s not like I’m talking about  a pair of stilettos. Cowboy boots definitely require the country slang. Duh. But…I digress. The point is that I have been thinking about it ever since moving here and then last week something changed. I just happened to have a weekend off from weddings, which rarely happens, so some of us decided to go two-stepping on Friday night. Now, I’ve done my fair share of two stepping since I’ve been here cause I LOVE to dance. However, it’s always been in total poser shoes. You know, the more stylish boots that don’t actually qualify. Well, as I began to plan for Friday night, I decided it WAS TIME. So, my roommate (who was born in West Texas..no further explanation needed )and I loaded up and headed to Pink’s Western Wear. After some minor deliberation I made my choice and crossed over the line. That line of those that own boots and those that don’t. A significant line for a girl who is starting to settle in.

I took my boots for a spin Friday night..or maybe they took me for a spin. Regardless, I had a blast and fell in love with ‘these ole’ boots’ (again with the slang). Contrary to what my roommates say, this does NOT make me a Texan but it does make me feel more and more settled in this place. That, my friends, is an important transition.

So, in the name of dancin’, cowboy boots and feeling settled,

I Say, Take Me Back!

[…] if you read last week’s TMB post, you know that I got some super cool boots. Well, being in College Station for the weekend, we had […]
