Take Me Back Tuesday | My New Favorite Subject

Well, Internet, I’ve become that person. That aunt this is obsessed with her nephew and wants everyone to see. He is the background on my phone, I ask my sister to send me a picture a day and I’m pretty sure I’ve made several of my friends sit as I scrolled through my iPhone pics to show them how precious he is. It’s funny how it just comes over you and you can’t control it. I am one proud aunt to one precious little boy!

She had said that it looked like Baby G was going to be past due and so we were all bummed and prepared ourselves to wait. One day later, however, I got a call…as in THE call. She was in labor and headed to the hospital. I had made plans to hang out with friends that night but I was a ball of energy the whole time. I couldn’t sit still for the life of me! Unfortunately, there were no more flights out until the morning so I prepared myself to miss his/her birth itself. “You can do it! Remember, you are little but mighty!” I said to her before I headed to bed that night. The next morning…my birthday…OUR birthday…I boarded a plane bound for Florida and despite the early hours and lack of sleep, I was wide awake. I was about to be an AUNT!! We got to the hospital in a rush and met my brother-in-law’s family in the lobby. They were all careful not to spill the beans and so we headed upstairs. I walked in to the room, ready to meet my niece or nephew, and there I saw HIM!! I took one look at him in his Daddy’s arms, turned to my best friend since BEFORE birth, a new MOTHER and well…I lost it. Tears came tumbling down my cheeks uncontrollably and I melted.

It’s crazy, really. You see, I spend my days with couples who are in love. Each story is different. Unique to them and a tale all their own. I love hearing about them because they are all special. However, one thing is constant. They all FELL in love. It was a journey to get there. An unfolding. Love itself is a daily part of my life…but this, THIS was different. How can you love someone who you literally just met? It’s a mystery. They placed little Jude Wallace in my arms and I was in love. He’s not even my own child and I loved him instantly. What a new perspective on unconditional love?! Praising God today for this new little life in our family and a new understanding of Christ’s unconditional love.

So, in the name of Jude, crazy Aunt Mary (as in crazy COOL), birthday triplets, and unconditional love,

I Say, Take Me Back!

(Sidenote: If you follow the blog much you know that most of my work is with couples in love. Every once in a while I’ll do a session with a senior, a family and once in a blue moon…a newborn. However, let’s just say that newborns are a far ‘cry’ (pun intended) from an engaged couple! I’ll be the first to admit that it’s a hard job and I’m still learning. We tried to do Jude’s newborn session but well…he just was NOT having it! So, I had to settle for some shots of him while he was asleep. The perfectionist in me was grieving over the lack of some super cute nude shots…the ones he’ll be embarrassed of later in life…but I had to let it go. You can bet that boy will be well photographed over the years if I have anything to say about it. Unfortunately, I think the opportunity for naked pictures has closed!)

This is his Momma’s favorite. Showing off his daddy’s chin and mouth!

It may be me, but I think he’s praying at an early age!!

I’m glad we share a nephew! 😉 He is precious! I also love that he is wearing the outfit one of his other aunts (Alli) and I got for him! 😉

If I can get my hands on a camera (since mine bit the dust), I’ll try to get some cute naked shots! ha, ha!

I think your pictures are wonderful – asleep or awake he is adorable. I also don’t think your naked baby “window” is closed. You may just get that perfect nudy shot yet.
