Life is a journey. Sometimes you’re headed uphill. Sometimes headed down. Sometimes you’re just walking blindly, one foot in front of the other. Yet, all of it is a wild ride.
I’m sitting in my old room in Branson, MO, having just traveled here this morning to do some portrait sessions for families I know and love, and I realized I hadn’t done my TMBT post. I’m super prepared and organized, right? As I flew in this morning, over the Ozark hills that I love so dearly, it occurred to me just how much life has changed in the last two years since I left this place. I remember sitting right here, in this very room, as I would stay up late at night and edit photos. I would leave my day job and just couldn’t wait to come to my little retreat and do what I love. Photography. Back then it was a dream. Today it is a reality. There are still so many days where I sit back and think, ‘how in the world did this all happen?’ When I left Branson two years ago, it was a big question mark in my head as to what would happen and if I was crazy for stepping out into the unknown. My 2013 business year is coming to a close and I will have photographed 26 weddings and countless portrait sessions. Mary Fields’ Photography will have been officially in business for two years and my 2014 season is already filling up. It’s insane really and as I am taken back to the place where the ‘idea’ began, I am in awe of one thing. God’s faithfulness. He does not promise me the chance to do what I love, yet He offered it to me out of His great love and mercy. Praying today that no matter what the future holds, that I always remember the way He has been faithful to me in my journey.
So, in the name of life’s journey and God’s faithfulness,
I Say, Take Me Back!
