Take Me Back Tuesday | Five Years, 2 Additions and She’s Headed Home

I remember it was bittersweet. We had just driven half way across the country so that I could move her in to her new home…in Orlando, FL. We’d had numerous hours to talk about life and how things would be different. We had never lived apart. There was that time in high school that I told her when we got to college, ‘There would be no strings attached.’ I thought it was time to spread my wings and just be me…not a twin. Well, that lasted all of about a day. I realized that I really liked the me that included her. So, we kept doing life together. This time, when I drove her across country, well this time it was for real…a bit of separation. And it was bittersweet. She drove me to the airport, walked me inside and waited til I had checked in. We walked to the gate, hugged goodbye and let more than a few tears fall from our eyes as we walked away. It was a place we had never really been. Apart. Now for some of you that aren’t a twin, ok a lot of you, this is probably a little hard to relate to…but you see, I had done life with this girl, well…my whole life. Don’t get me wrong, that was a very important step in establishing ourselves apart from one another. I wouldn’t trade these years for anything as they have allowed each of us to become who we are. Since she’s been gone, she met the love of her life and had a precious baby boy. I’ve started a business and made a whole new life for myself. They have been such fruitful years for us both and priceless. However, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want her closer. After all, we call each other almost every day…don’t judge.

Well, five years almost to the day, I’m so excited to say that I will be flying to Orlando to go GET HER and her wonderful little family. Yep, my twin sister, her hubby and their little boy are moving to Texas!!!! I can’t even believe it! I’m still in shock about  it all but God has orchestrated this move with such amazing grace and provision. He has opened up doors for their family in ways that only He can. I am just excited that those opportunities include only a 45 minute drive from yours truly! That day, five years ago, was so bittersweet but it has been a story of God’s faithfulness and it continues to be told!

So, in the name of God’s faithfulness and your best friend living close,

I Say, Take Me Back!
