Take Me Back Tuesday | Cavemen and the Dallas Farmers Market

Well, Internet, it has happened. I have fallen in to the craze. The health craze that is. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older and it’s time to stop relying on my 18-year-old metabolism to carry me through. Maybe it’s because as much as I love my job, it does take a pretty significant physical toll on my 5’2″ body. Or maybe it’s because I’m easily convinced. Yes, I think it’s the latter. Nonetheless, a few of my friends and I have started what is called the Whole30 challenge. 30 days of no processed foods, no dairy, no carbs, no sugar and no grain. Paleo they call it. Personally, I call it HARD! It’s nicknamed the ‘caveman’ health plan, hence the ‘Paleo’lithic reference. The idea is that processed foods are not great for your body and so a 30 day challenge acts as a cleanse as well as a motivator to make future lifestyle changes. If it works, it should change my cravings for things that are healthier for me as opposed to things that are not…like chocolate, and bread and everything that is wonderful in this world (you can see that my cravings have not yet been changed). I am on Day 4 and doing pretty well but we will see in 26 days if I feel healthier and more energetic!

All that to say that my roommate and I ventured out to the Dallas Farmers Market last week to stock up on a ridiculous amount of produce. I of course HAD to take my camera because let’s be honest…produce is pretty! The colors and the variety make pictures quite delightful. I may have looked like an idiot taking pictures of my fruit and veggies seconds before I bought them but well…what else is new?!

So, in the name of long-lost metabolisms, self-control, healthy living, vegetables, and cavemen,

I say, Take Me Back!

I’ve never seen fruit and veggies look so beautiful!
