Take Me Back Tuesday | Being Aunt Mary

Oh, Internet, the blessings just keep rolling in. Sometimes I stop myself and ask why God has blessed my family so. I don’t have a great answer except that His mercies are new and that He loves to give great gifts to His children. Well, my family has been given another great gift. Last April I became an aunt for the first time (on my birthday mind you) and last June I became an aunt again. The last 9.5 months have been too great to describe. I love my nephews in a way that I didn’t think was possible and they aren’t even my own children! I’ve had a blast watching them grow, develop and seeing their sweet personalities be unveiled. It’s been a crazy fun season. I FaceTime with them often and have made a fool of myself more times than I care to admit…just to get a laugh. Yesterday, one of them waved at me through the phone and I about died. Well, Christmas morning, I got news of another great blessing. I am going to be an aunt all over again come August! My little sister and her husband announced that they would be welcoming another ‘Shoe to their Shoebox’ this summer (their last name is Schuch pronounced Shoe). With a house full of women, tears immediately began flowing followed by lots of joyful celebration. A new life that God had given to our family…and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Being Aunt Mary is one of the coolest roles I’ve ever played and I’m so excited to keep playing it. Don’t tell my sisters because we are in constant competition, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to be the favorite aunt! I always tease my family that they are spoiled having a professional photographer in the family for all occasions. Every once in a while, I threaten to just stop providing my services…we all laugh though because we know that will never happen. I love it too much! We did their announcement session on a FREEZING day and we were all pretty miserably cold. They were troopers though and Baby Schuch was a champ too! Counting down the days until I get to photograph this little nugget…
