A Belo Mansion Wedding: Claire + Ben

View More: http://maryfieldsphotography.pass.us/jones-wedding-6-13-15

I love photographing high school sweethearts. Seriously, it is so fun. When you meet and start dating in high school, you truly grow up together and it’s hard to even remember life before spending it with that person you love. You have been through the ups and downs of young adult life and you have both discovered along the way who you are as an adult. The beautiful part is that everyone has to do that but marrying your high school sweet heart means you’ve done it together.

Well, Claire and Ben met in high school and fell for one another quickly. They went to prom together, walked the same hallways, cheered for the same team and made lifelong friends side by side. As circumstances would have it though, they decided to attend separate colleges and so distance became a regular part of their relationship. This is often the breaking point for most high school relationships but for Claire and Ben, it was worth the distance. Even though they didn’t walk the same halls and exactly cheer for the same team, they continued to fall in love and build memories together.

So, when a group of their friends decided to all take a trip to Mexico, Ben began to plan his proposal. On a beautiful beach with a perfect sunset in the background, he took the love of his life, held her hand and got to one knee. Staring at her best friend, it was not a hard decision.

Their wedding day was literally a blast! This couple is the greatest and I loved being part of such a long-awaited day as these two sweethearts finally got to become husband and wife. Their first look was so precious as Ben wrapped his arms around his beautiful bride and the dance party could not have been more fun. It was such a lovely celebration of two people who are wildly in love and the best of friends. Claire and Ben, I can’t tell you how much fun it has been to walk through this last year and capture your love for one another. It is easy to see why you love one another and why so many people love you! I can’t wait to see how your lives together unfold.

Enjoy some of my favs from their wedding day at the beautiful Belo Mansion!

Happy Monday!

An Ashton Gardens Wedding : Emma + John

View More: http://maryfieldsphotography.pass.us/strandwedding6-6-15

They met on a high school FFA trip although they went to rival high schools. He first noticed her long beautiful hair as the wind blew through it while walking along the beach. She on the other hand, first noticed that he was sunburned to a crisp from a little too much sun at a previous pool party! Oh, how first impressions are funny in hind-sight. They have known each other for a long time and it is apparent because these two are best friends. She loves that he is a true gentlemen and that he always takes care of her. He loves how much fun they have together. They can really do anything and just enjoy being together. As he says, “Emma is my rock, my ideal companion and my best friend.” Their friendship is so clear as they two just love being together and they find that they are most at ease when they are together.

They both went to Texas A&M for college and so he proposed underneath the Century Tree on campus. It is rumored that whoever you walk under the trees with, you will marry. The tree was most likely planted around the turn of the 20th century and it is considered to be a symbol of strength and loyalty…a perfect place to ask for your love’s hand in marriage.

Their wedding day at the beautiful Ashton Garden’s was a day of great celebration! They were so ready to become husband and wife. Joined with their dearest friends and family, they said ‘I Do’ and danced the night away. Emma and John, thanks for letting me capture such a special day and I hope the years to come only include more love and devotion than today.

Enjoy some of my favs from their day!

Happy Friday!

An Olde Dobbin Station Wedding : Alie + Robert

View More: http://maryfieldsphotography.pass.us/wendel-wedding They were set up by mutual friends at a wedding, at least nudged together at their prompting. She was roommates with the bride and he was a college friend of the groom. He of course didn’t want to miss his moment so he got the guts to go up and ask her for a dance. From there, things just fell into place. They both knew quickly that they wanted to marry one another and commit to the rest of their lives. As she said, ‘we were both in a great spot and had no reasons not to move forward.’ Knowing that he wanted to live life with her by his side, he asked her parents for their blessing and planned the proposal. On a winter Friday night, he convinced her to go to dinner at parents but stopped at this beautiful mill by her house. Having no idea what he was about to do, he surprised her with 5 cards representing each month they had been together. The last card was labeled, ‘Next Step’, and he knelt to one knee to ask her to be his bride. She happily agreed and they celebrated with a surprise engagement party with family and friends.

These two make the most beautiful couple but what I love most about them is that their beauty radiates from the inside. They love each other well, they love their friends and family well and it is clear that they love God well. Their wedding day was marked with great joy as they couldn’t wait to start a lifelong journey together and I was privileged to be there with them. The sun shone down on a beautiful July day and joyousness radiated all around.

Alie and Robert, thank you for letting me capture such a special day in your lives and to be present as you stood before family, friends and God to unite forever. I simply cannot wait to see where life takes you and how your marriage will impact the world around you.

Enjoy some of my favs from their wedding day!

Happy Tuesday!

A Tatanka Ranch Wedding: Hannah + Heath

BurgerBlog_0037 Have I mentioned that I am an Okie through and through? Well, I am and so I LOVE getting back to my roots and photographing Oklahoma weddings. This beautiful couple celebrated their wedding at the most perfect venue, Tatanka Ranch, and it was a stunning setting for a lovely celebration. In perfect Oklahoma style, the weather was C-razy and terribly unpredictable with high winds, lightning and rain forecasts that threatened to cause trouble. Miraculously though, it all held off until right after the ceremony and portraits when everyone got inside. Let’s just say, as the photographer, I was telling God thank you!

This incredibly sweet couple met in college just down the road from where they said I Do and it didn’t take long for them to realize that they were ready for a forever relationship. They met one night while out with friends, both just going about their business and happily single. She was talking with her friends when Heath approached their group, knowing someone in the circle. After a short period of time, he pulled her aside and said, ‘I never do this but I just don’t want this moment to pass me by.’ Then he promptly asked her for her number. She thought he was cute and funny and that she had nothing to lose so she happily exchanged it. They got together that next week and were inseparable every day until he graduated. Their parents quickly saw how much they loved each other and knew immediately that this was something special. So did Heath and Hannah. Just short of a year from their first meeting, he knelt to the ground and asked her for her hand. Of course, it was an easy answer for her!

Their wedding day was beautiful and such a sweet celebration of love and God’s goodness. They vowed forever, danced the night away and left joyful to be husband and wife. I am so privileged to have been able to capture their love story and look forward to watching it continue to unfold! Congrats, Heath and Hannah!

Enjoy some of my favs from their wedding!

Take Me Back Tuesday: Being Aunt Mae Mae

Gibson_0009

It’s a funny thing being an aunt. It’s not near the weight or responsibility of being a mom. You don’t worry about their behavior, ponder how you will deal with teenage years or fret over paying for their education. You don’t lie in bed at night worrying about whether or not you’re doing things right or if they’ll turn out ok.

No, being an aunt means you get to just enjoy them and take pride in all they do. I remember holding my oldest nephew when he was first-born and feeling like that little child owned me. I was amazed at how someone so small…someone I had just met, could have such a profound impact on me. I’ve felt that same way about the two nephews that followed and I am sure I’ll feel that way with every one coming that I have the privilege to call niece or nephew. I can honestly say the aunt gig is one of my all time favorite roles. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Well, this Aunt Mae Mae got to celebrate her youngest nephew’s first birthday a few weeks ago and I was one proud auntie! Sweet Gideon celebrated his first year of life by smashing some cake and very happily opening gifts from friends (or maybe letting mom open them but still.) This little man is the chillest, happiest and most joyful babe. I have loved watching his little personality develop over the last year and can honestly say I’ve only seen him cry a handful of times. No joke. I’m sure he cries more than it seems but on the whole, he is one to ‘go with the flow’ and smile regularly. That smile…well let me tell you it is killer. If he didn’t already have my heart, he just has to flash me an ear to ear toothy grin and I’m melted to a puddle on the floor. I can’t wait to see how this young boy grows and how his personality continues to unfold.

You can bet that as he grows up, his Aunt Mae Mae is one of his biggest fans!

So, in the name of first birthdays, happy smiles and having the greatest aunt gig,

I Say, Take Me Back!
