TMBT | It’s Fall Celebration Week…or FCW As I like to Call It

dallasskyline

Ok, so it’s no secret on this here bloggity that I am a sentimental soul who LOVES celebration. And this week in October, for really the rest of my life, will be the week of celebration. While most people in my community are anticipating the week in the fall where the infamous PSL comes out (that’s the Pumpkin Spice Latte for all you out there that don’t lose your mind on PSL day), I will be anticipating this week every year. You see, it’s Fall Celebration Week. Or FCW as I have lovingly decided to call it. They can have their PSLs and I will have my FCWs.

It’s FCW because this is quite the week of celebrations in my life. Let me just break it down for you.

We started this week with October 11…

October 11th= my half-year anniversary of gettin’ HITCHED! Whoo hoo! We are total pros at this point and handing out free marriage advice for anyone interested. (free because there’s no guarantee that it’s any good)

October 15th= Yeah that’s right, my handsome hubby’s BDAY! I get to celebrate this man on Thursday of this week (and every 10/15) because he is the bomb.com….double click.

October 16= MFP and Dallas Anniversary day! This is the day I moved to Dallas 4 years ago and started Mary Fields Photography. A very significant day as it reminds me of the crazy leap of faith I took and all that God has done in it. This Friday I will celebrate 4 years of business and over 75 weddings! Not to mention countless portrait sessions and millions of images. Time flies when you’re having fun!

October 17th = Engagement-aversary Day! Yep, this day 1 year ago, I was just focused on doing a family portrait session when the hubs pulled one over on me and knelt to one knee instead. Talk about a great day and a wonderful surprise.

Oh wait…we aren’t done.

October 18th= I realize it’s getting a little mushy but I don’t know that I care. This is the day, 2 years ago, that I got set up on a blind date with a handsome blonde and my life changed forever. Meet Jimmy-Aversary day!

Now, you might be thinking I’m a crazy over-celebrator and well…you wouldn’t be wrong! I definitely over-celebrate but then…I’m ok with that. Don’t worry, we aren’t going to throw a party for each one of these events. More just take some time on that day to reflect and to thank God for the reminder of His goodness. So very thankful for my life, the way it has unfolded over time, for my business and work in Dallas, for amazing clients that allow me to do what I love, for a wonderful husband and most importantly for the evidence of a God who cares deeply about me.

So, in the name of over celebration and FCW being instated,

I Say, Take Me Back!

A Wichita Falls Wedding | Emily + Cameron

Radiant Joy.

Those are the two words I would use to describe this couple, their love for one another and their wedding day. Cameron and Emily exude joyfulness and it spills out into everything they do and how they impact people around them. Their wedding day brought me to tears several times and now, even looking through their photos, I find myself smiling. They love each so well and it stems from a deep love of God that was so evident throughout my whole journey with them.

They met almost 7 years ago at Texas A&M through mutual friends although they didn’t start dating right away. For a while, they just got to be friends and fell in love over time. She of course noticed how handsome he was but it was his personality and his humor that drew her in. Over time, his strong character became so evident to her that she found herself telling a good friend that she ‘could marry Cam…or at least someone like him.‘ This was before she had even admitted to herself that maybe she saw him more than just a friend. Cameron was equally taking notice of this beautiful brunette he had befriended. He was taken by her joyfulness and excitement about life (a trait that is hard to deny in Emily), loving how it showed in her smile and the way she interacted with people. In his words, ‘she is a constant friend and a true listener who cares for people well.’

They dated for 5 years before he surprised her with the sweetest proposal, kneeling and asking her to be his bride. Seeing the man before her, she didn’t even need to think twice. Their wedding day embodied their relationship, their personalities and their love for one another as so many people gathered to celebrate this special couple. Joy was unmistakable. The radiant kind.

Cameron and Emily, what a privilege it was to photograph such a special day in your lives but even more to be a small part of this journey with you! I pray your marriage is strong and that it heralds the good news to many generations. Can’t wait to see how your life as Mr. and Mrs. unfolds!!!

Enjoy some of my favs from their wedding day!

Happy Monday!

Take Me Back Tuesday – Camp Driver

Pummil_0017

Well, Internet, today’s Take Me Back Tuesday post is just super fun. If you follow me on Instagram (@maryfieldsdriver) you might have noticed that this past weekend my husband and I hosted our first ever Camp Driver. Yes, that’s right…I came up with this term in reference to hosting any one of our nephews overnight because let’s face it, staying with Aunt Mae Mae and Uncle ‘Yimmy’ is just as fun as being at camp. Am I right? I’m right.

My twin sister is due with her second baby in just a matter of weeks and so we decided to let her and her hubby have a little ‘baby moon.’ So, we got to have this little cutie with us for about 48 hours and it was a blast. Camp Driver was full of fun activities like ‘golfing’ in the park with a Skyline view, Saturday morning ‘nonuts’ complete with pink icing and ‘frinkles,’ watching lots of jet planes, moon gazing and even a trip to the Arboretum to see some ‘pumptins.’ Yep, we had a grand ole’ time and we were sad to see him go home. Anxiously awaiting our next Camp Driver with whichever nephew is next! Maybe next time we will have all three! Uncle ‘Yimmy’ might need a little convincing on that one…

So, in the name of pumptins, frinkle nonuts and Camp Driver,

I Say,

Take Me Back!!!

(this little man didn’t exactly love the camera so we had to take our photos while flying in the air. Worked quite well actually but once we got to the pumpkins, it was not gonna happen!)

A Winfrey Point Wedding: Shelly + Casey

View More: http://maryfieldsphotography.pass.us/hotz-wedding-5-19-15

Photographing couple’s weddings is one of the great privileges of my life. It is a privilege because I get to document one of the most special days in their lives and certainly one of the most special days in their lives together. Occasionally, this privilege gets taken up a little notch and that is when I get to capture weddings for couple’s who I get to do life with on a regular basis. Couples who are dear friends.

For Casey and Shelly, not only did I get to be there for the day they said ‘I Do,’ but I also got to be there the day they met. We had gotten a group together to go out of Mexican food followed by two-stepping. Two things I love a lot! I had met Casey through church and we had actually gone on a river float trip a year and a half prior. I met Shelly not too long after that when she joined our women’s Bible study through church. My roommate and I had invited both of them, not thinking a thing about it. Well, that night at dinner Casey noticed this beautiful blue-eyed gem across the table. He was enchanted. So, not wanting to miss an opportunity, he asked us for her number and gave her a call. The rest, you might say, is history.
What has been so fun is that Jimmy, my husband, and I met about two weeks later and so our relationships began to unfold at the same time. Shelly and I would often get breakfast or coffee and chat at length about how things were going. I can still remember the first time she told me that she loved Casey. We were standing in the Starbucks line in Portland, OR on July 4th of all places! The more we talked, the more I knew this was the man that she would marry and I couldn’t have been more excited! He proposed on a hiking trip, complete with a great view, and she happily said yes!
These two got married on a beautiful Monday in May…yes, that’s right, a Monday! It was a gorgeous day made even more beautiful by these two as they promised to be by one another’s side for the rest of their days. They stood before friends, family and most importantly before God as they covenanted together. Let’s just say I may have shed a few tears. I adore these two and am so thankful for that I get to do life with them as we navigate this new journey of marriage. They love each other so well, they make each other laugh and they compliment one another in perfect ways. I cannot wait to see where God takes them in the years to come!
Enjoy some of my favs from their spring MONDAY wedding!
Happy Friday!

TMBT- Palo Duro Canyon

PaloDuro_0001

One of the things I love most about being a wedding photographer is that it often takes me fun places and I get to mix work and play. Over Labor Day weekend, I got to photograph the sweetest wedding near Amarillo, TX. West Texas is a totally different place and one I haven’t visited often. Well, two things made this wedding even more special. First, I got to photograph it with my wonderful husband which was such a blast! He did a great job and it was so fun to have him by my side. Second, as we researched the area, we found that it was home to the second largest canyon in the nation…second only to of course the Grand Canyon. Well, with it being a holiday weekend and because I was traveling with my best friend, we decided to extend our trip and explore a little bit.

Palo Duro Canyon is quite a sight to see and super remarkable. You are driving along on the flattest ground with a straight line separating the dry earth from the big blue sky when all of a sudden, the ground drops out and the canyon sets in. It was amazing! Let me tell you, though, it was HOT! The temperature outside the canyon was a whopping 93 degrees of dry heat but when you are in the bottom of the Canyon, its 15 degrees hotter. Yes, that’s right! 108 degrees with no shade! We were both struggling as we hiked the area. Not far from us, at the most famous and lengthy trail, some people had to be rescued by ambulance/helicopter because of heat exhaustion. Glad we opted not to do that one!

We still had a great time hiking and exploring this great natural phenomenon. Loved adventuring with my favorite adventure partner and I can’t wait to see where we go next. If you live in the area, we highly recommend going to see Palo Duro Canyon! We would just recommend coming in spring or fall!

So, in the name of adventure, memory making, scenic views and traveling with your best friend,

I Say, Take Me Back!

PaloDuro_0015 PaloDuro_0016 Stopped and sat on this random bench and had the greatest time just chatting and dreaming about the future. It was probably our favorite part of the whole trip.  PaloDuro_0017 PaloDuro_0018 PaloDuro_0019 PaloDuro_0020 PaloDuro_0021 I love adventure. I love him. I doubly love adventuring with him.  PaloDuro_0022

Glad you took time to see this part of our state! You guys really need to come back in early summer to see the stage production, “Texas”, that they do down in the canyon there. It’s fabulous!
