Megan + Joe | McKinney Cotton Mill Engagement Session

Mary Fields Photography

They met years almost 7 years ago at K-Kauai Family Kamp but their friendship really blossomed in 2009 when they both served alongside each other in ministry. That next year they spent as classmates at the Kanakuk Institute, a year-long Bible training program and their respect for one another grew. He thought she was ‘the most godly woman’ he’d ever met and she secretly thought the same thing. Man that is. He was a little intimidated by her (in a good way) and she was developing a crush. The Lord’s perfect timing led them different ways though, taking her to the hills of Arkansas and him to the busy streets of Dallas. Distance is no match though for a divine plan. Two years after ‘parting ways,’ he came back to the summer camp to volunteer…but more importantly to ask her out. Finally, the friendship became more and yet, in reality, just that much richer. On a fall day he proposed back where it all started at K-Kauai and she said yes…without a second thought. A love story written by God and in His perfect timing.

I’ve known both Megan and Joe for a while as I worked for a sister camp just down the road. I remember seeing them together back in 2010 and thinking to myself, “They look like they like each other. They should date.” For real, I thought that. I suppose I have a prophetic gift! Joe even allowed me to be part of the proposal in Branson last fall and I was pumped when they asked me to shoot their May wedding! Megan and Joe, thanks for modeling what a God-centered relationship looks like. I can’t wait to see where He takes you from this day forward!

We had a blast at their engagement session here in Dallas and they made my job way too easy as we traipsed around the McKinney Cotton Mill. Enjoy some of my favs!

Happy Monday!

The McKinney Cotton Mill is awesome. So awesome.

Megan…you are stunning.

Favorite.

Yep…gorg.

Seriously, there are so many cool places around this location!

New favorite ring shot. Breathtaking.

Love this one.

Because they met at Kanakuk and spent much of their friendship/relationship in t-shirts and Chacos…it was only fitting to commemorate such things. Having spent my summers dressed just like that…I loved it.

I’ll end with this one because it embodies so much of their story.
