Mary Fields’ Fall Giveaway Week | Monday

Ok, Internet, if you missed my announcement last Friday, I have some exciting news! It’s a week of giveaways on the blog! Here is the deal, I am so blessed by my blog followers and wanted to do something to give back to you all! My blog wouldn’t be what it is if it wasn’t for those that read. As I was thinking about how to do that, a couple things came to mind. First, fall is my absolute favorite season and it includes one of my favorite holidays, Thanksgiving! Not only that, but as a wedding photographer, the fall is one of the most popular seasons to get engaged. So, in the spirit of giving and in honor of engagement season, I will be blogging every day this week (instead of my normal Monday, Tuesday, Friday) and giving away some fun prizes. All you have to do is read what the topic is for the day and then write in your response as a comment on the bottom of the blog. One winner will be selected (so get creative) and receive the designated super fun prize. Anyone can write in! The biggest news is that all week, the giveaways will be leading up to one, GIANT GIVEAWAY ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH! You won’t want to miss it! So, for this week, check in with me every morning to see how you can win!!

Happy Monday!

What’s not to love about fall?! I spent 25 minutes yesterday in a field at work taking pictures of yellow and orange trees and deer during the golden hour!! The pictures are awesome! Nothing is more spectacular than golden hour in the fall. I love apple cider donuts, scarves, boots, leaves, Virginia Tech football. And of course, pumpkin anything. 🙂

Rachel Anderson - November 4, 2013 - 2:40 pm

Cooler (not cold) weather, OU football, boots and family get-togethers.

Courtney - November 4, 2013 - 2:47 pm

My favorite part of fall is doing our thankful tree as a family. Each morning we sit at the table and write a blessing that god has given us. It’s fun to see what our three year old comes up with

There’s too much to choose from! Cooler temperatures make walking the dog down streets alive with beautiful colors a time for contemplation. Then there IS watching college football with a special person or friends!

Since I live in the great state of Florida we do not have really have a fall. Our leaves don’t change, I am still wearing tshirts and shorts, and yet I still am wiping sweat off of my face when I walk outside. Yet fall is still my favorite part of the year. There is just something in the air and a warm-ness in the hearts of people that bring a smile to my face. When fall comes around, to me it means that it is finally becoming a little bit colder here. Which means winter coming is soon. Which means I can wear my riding boots soon!!! Riding boots have to be my favorite shoes. Fall to me represents my favorite things in the whole entire world–riding boots.

Best things about Fall

The cool weather that brings out the jackets, sweaters, scarfs and beanies alike. Your cold hands wrapped around a nice hot cup of hot cocoa or cider on those chilly nights. The sound of the wind rustling threw the trees. The colors so vibrant of maple trees that bring a joy to the soul. God’s gift to us to show us how awesome He is. And that is Fall!

Stephanie - November 4, 2013 - 3:26 pm

Okay, so FALL is my favorite. (Well, Fall through Christmas…) Anyway, since we live in Florida, we have to “create” fall. So we decorate our home, fill it will all things pumpkin – including my apple pumpkin muffins and Charlie Brown specials. My birthday falls during this time as well, so win-win. =) Finally, I love that my kids are just as excited about fall as I am. I am passing on the obsession!

My favorite thing about fall was the cooler weather, football, & family time, but now it is by far that I got married to my husband during (this) fall! Now I get to enjoy my favorite time of year and my favorite holidays with my favorite person, making new memories! And boots of course : )

Christy - November 4, 2013 - 6:37 pm

Fall is my favorite season, so not sure I can say what I love most. I enjoy the cooler weather and the changing colors in the trees. I like football and fire pits with s’mores. I enjoy my kiddos excitement about Halloween and Christmas. Too many things I love to pick just one!

I would have to say, my favorite thing about Fall is one moment in particular – It’s that moment of pure bliss walking through the door of my family’s home on Thanksgiving and smelling all of the delicious foods that have been cooking throughout the day. This may make me sound like a food nut (and I am!), but inhaling that smell after walking in from a chilly, usually cloudy, day reminds me that life can get tough at times, but there will always be a home to return to, people who love you, and a time to gather as friends and family and be thankful for everything we have. It’s a bright spot in my life, every year.

Is it totally weird that one of my favorite things about fall is the front doors people have…the hay bails, pumpkins, burlap wreaths! They just make my heart go pitter patter! Also the cemetery by Sunfest in Branson…oh those trees I just want to put you in the middle of my house…without the dying leaves part.

Fall is hands-down my very favorite season. The trees, the smells, the food, the holidays, the cooler temps. If/when I get married, I definitely want a fall wedding!

But my FAVORITE part?? Our family’s annual tradition of a fall meal. It’s basically a Thanksgiving meal that occurs earlier in the season.

This all got started during our middle school years when my mom basically cooked a Thanksgiving meal early in the season because the ingredients were on really good sale. This tradition became annual as a lighter version of Thanksgiving. It’s blossomed into this big meal because while we get a somewhat typical meal on Thanksgiving day at my grandma’s retirement center, it’s just not the same. So we get to continue this delicious fall tradition.

Amanda Moore - November 4, 2013 - 9:47 pm

Soups!!! As the tempature is cooling down the stove is heating up with soup!! Does not matter what kind but I enjoy a warm bowl of soup, snuggle in a blanket, and enjoy the meal on my back porch.

Carrie Golike - November 4, 2013 - 10:55 pm

My favorite thing is going to Branson, MO and doing the Run to the Lights with kanakuk friends! 🙂

Tori L - November 5, 2013 - 12:35 am

My favorite thing about Fall is getting together with my whole family for Thanksgiving with endless crazy hilarious rounds of Picture Telephone. Best memory…’getting engaged’ turning into ‘Frodo from LOTR.’

Maile Roen - November 5, 2013 - 12:48 am

The thing I love most about fall is the color changing of the leaves. It reminds me of my childhood when my mom and I used to go walking with our cup of french vanilla cappuccino from 7-11 and we would walk around the neighborhood and just talk about whatever and admire the leaves. I’m going to continue this tradition with my son when he gets older. The color changing of the leaves also reminds me of being in The Pride and all the cool weathered practices. Those were ALWAYS my favorite practices.

After living through the sweltering temps of a Texas summer, fall is always a welcome change. I think the colors of fall are my favorite. When I see a tree with leaves of glorious red, awesome yellow and magnificent orange I thank God for His works. But wait, you have to travel up north to see those colors on fall trees. In Texas it’s yellow and brown. Oh well, at least Southern Living has pictures of trees like that.

Shalako Law - November 5, 2013 - 1:12 am

How fun! Mary, as soon as I read your post, it immediately made me think of Christmas in Branson starting in October! Most people get annoyed with Christmas before Thanksgiving, but I prefer it that way every year! I would move to Branson during Christmas every year if I could! Unfortunately, my family has put a “no Christmas before thanksgiving” restriction on me. Haha!

Amanda Harris - November 5, 2013 - 1:23 am

I have two favorites. I hope that is okay. First, like many others. I love the flavors of Fall. Between pumpkin and gingerbread lattes, butternut and acorn squash side dishes and the wonderful stews and soups that warm me to the soul, there aren’t many flavors better than those of Fall. Second, I love the brisk Autumn weather. In Texas fall weather is magical. You can wear the most perfect outfits and not have to cover up with a coat. There is warm sunshine and a cool breeze. Those are two favorite things about fall. 🙂
Warmly,
Amanda

Seeing the beautiful handiwork of God’s hand each day on the drive to work. The tress are absolutely amazing, the sunrise is breath taking, and the frost or fog on the countryside really creates a magical moment.

Shanna Dietz - November 5, 2013 - 2:23 am

My favorite thing about fall is the cooler weather and a good reason to snuggle up under a blanket! Something I just realized that I love is the sun setting early! (Only because it tricks my 2.5 and 1 year old sons that it’s bedtime!)

Shelby W - November 5, 2013 - 2:44 am

Fall is my FAVORITE. I love the cooler weather: sweaters, boots, jeans, and of course SCARVES!! It’s also the best time of year for reading–what could be better than curling up on the couch on a cold day with your sweats on, your favorite fleece blanket, a mug of hot chocolate, and a good book. Such a great way to spend an afternoon. Most of all, though, it’s the season of my favorite holiday: Thanksgiving. Every Thanksgiving our family travels to my grandparents’ in East Texas where trees flank both sides of every road with leaves in every hue of red, yellow, and orange. The colors always instantly bring a smile to my face. The Thanksgiving weekend is filled with good food, good friends, family, laughter, and love–the best feelings, emotions, and “things” of fall.

Teri Dester - November 5, 2013 - 3:14 am

FALL – truly my favoritist!!! I have such great memories of high school football (back in the 60’s -70’s), hayrack rides, caramel apples, popcorn balls, then my favorite holiday Thanksgiving!! For close to 40 years I have made Thanksgiving dinner for my extended family and I love having everyone together where we not only share the meal, we share what we are thankful for!

Ashley Nick - November 5, 2013 - 3:25 am

Boots, scarves, Caramel Brulee’ Lattes, 70 degree days, and holidays galore!!!! Fall is my favorite!!!!! 🙂

Paige N. - November 5, 2013 - 4:27 am

Fall is my new favorite season ever since moving to the midwest, because real falls exist here! Its absolutely stunning! My favorite thing about fall is that it gives me the excuse to use my crock-pot ALL the time! What says fall more than sitting on your screened in porch with friends, wearing a fleece, and eating a big bowl of chili?? Its the coziest season of all!
