Marland Mansion Wedding | Amanda + Jonathan

A 1920s mansion that was built by an oil tycoon is not a venue I get to photograph at very often. With its marble floors, ornate ceilings, hidden tunnels and beautiful wrought iron doors…you would almost think Jay Gatsby would walk right around the corner. What makes it even better is that it’s in my hometown and I used to drive by it almost daily. In fact, it’s where I went to prom and I even took my senior portraits there. Yep. To shoot a wedding there was a dream. Even better than that, this couple is the absolute sweetest. I’ve loved the small part I’ve played in their journey and I am so anxious to see what adventures are ahead for these two.

They met in a Bible study through their church. He noticed how cute and social she was. She noticed his servant’s heart. Ironically, they were both from the same hometown but as God would have it, they didn’t meet there. As Amanda says, ‘their relationship grew from friendship.’ I love when that happens…after all, who else would you want to grow old with than your best friend? On their one year anniversary and Jonathan’s birthday, she gave her gift to him thinking that was the biggest surprise. Little did she know, the biggest surprise was yet to come. He gave her his gift and at the end, he knelt to one knee and asked her for many more anniversaries. Through happy tears, she agreed without hesitation. They consider it God’s blessing that brought them together and their relationship is founded on their love for Him. It’s this love that allows them to love one another and they do that so very well.

Amanda and Jonathan, what a joy it is to have clients like you who make my job so easy and fun. Your love for one another and others is such an encouragement to me and I know that you will bless so many in the years to come. Thanks for letting me be a small part of your story and I can’t wait to see how the rest of it unfolds. The best is yet to come!
