Laura + Brennan | A White Rock Lake Engagement Session

Mary FIelds Photography

He had a brilliant idea. Jump in the lake at the end of the shoot. She declined but said she would support him on the dock. “I suppose you just can’t take life too seriously,” I told her while he went to the car to get a dry change of clothes. When he came back she said…“I’m going in with you! Mary said you can’t take life too seriously.” And then…they both jumped in the lake. It was awesome. I told them that this was a good sign that their marriage wouldn’t be boring and well, a fun marriage is just the best.

I met Brennan about 5 years ago at a Kanakuk Kamps (one of my most special places on earth) and he was one of my all time favorite counselors. I’m not even just saying that. He ALWAYS had a great attitude and a small on his face. Even in the summer heat he was genuine, positive and ready to give it all for his kids. I remember distinctly talking about Laura, his girlfriend of several years, and hearing him express how special she was. I had never met her but she sounded like a gem. Years later I got an email from a girl inquiring about my photography. She had found me through a friend and as we got to talking, I realized she was THE Laura. The one he had talked about all those summers back. We all laughed at how small the world is and I was SO pumped when they booked me for their October wedding. If I liked Brennan so much, I knew I was bound to like his bride-to-be. Like, however, is a definite understatement! Laura is an absolute delight and together, they make a ridiculously wonderful team. Their engagement session was an absolute blast and I cannot wait for their fall wedding. Laura and Brennan, thanks for letting me part of this special season in your life. From the gates of Kanakuk Kamps to the banks of White Rock Lake and then all the way to the altar, I am privileged to document your story. I cannot wait to see where the Lord takes the two of you in the future…but I hope it includes lots of moments where you ‘don’t take life too seriously.’

Enjoy some of my favs from their e-shoot!

Happy Friday!
