It was March 26, 2012. Mary Fields Photography was just getting off the ground and I received a Facebook messaging saying this, ‘Mary, I love your photography and I enjoy following your blog/work. Whenever I get engaged, I am going to contact you about taking all of my pictures. God has given you an incredible gift.’ As MFP was just getting started, I was so flattered and honestly a little floored that someone would be so encouraging about my work to the point of wanting to hire me for his future wedding. What a thoughtful thing to say! I of course told him to keep me updated as I would LOVE to photograph such an exciting time in his future. Years went by and I must admit, I sort of forgot about that encouraging Facebook message when Ethan contacted me again. ‘I’m about to engaged and I want to you to take some enagement photos for us!’ Sure enough, he had met the love of his life last March and was about to propose to her this past December. When he emailed me, I of course remembered his thoughtful message and was so thrilled that I could be part of such a sweet time in this couple’s life! How crazy that before he even knew Sarah, he had contacted me and now, years later, I get to make that Facebook message a reality!
Ethan met Sarah through mutual friends who wanted to set them up. After their first date, which was a double, she was convinced that he didn’t like her because ‘he didn’t even hug her goodbye.’ Little did she know he liked her a lot and wanted to keep seeing her even though he lived in New Jersey as he was working for the Brooklyn Nets. She was living in Oklahoma which made their relationship very long distance. Distance can’t compete with love though and these two were falling hard and fast in love. They dated from March to December and then he asked her to be his bride. These two are seriously the sweetest and I had a BLAST doing their engagements. I’m so glad that only a year after sending me that message, Ethan met his bride-to-be, the woman who has stolen his heart. I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them and I’m so glad that Facebook allowed me to be a small part of it.
Enjoy some of my favs from their session and
Happy Monday!
