Oh, Internet, words can’t express how much I adore this couple. Erin and Tim are some of the most precious people and their wedding day was such a reflection of that. Both of them radiate the joy of the Lord in ways that affect all around them, including myself. The whole day, Erin didn’t stop smiling and never once got stressed. Why? Because this was a day of great celebration. A day of rejoicing as these two, who had been waiting for one another, got to stand before God and promise their life to the other. It was everything that I love about weddings and more importantly, everything I love about marriage. My favorite moment of the whole day was when Erin and Tim did their first look. Ladies and gentlemen, if you needed convincing that a First Look is the way to go, just scroll down. Might be my favorite First Look ever because of the way these two adore each other.
We were running a bit behind on schedule but Erin asked if we could still protect the time that she and Tim had set aside to pray together right after the First Look. When she said this, a smile covered my face. I love that in the midst of all of it, her first priority was to stop and pray over the union she was about to make. She walked to him under the beautiful pine trees of east Texas, he turned around and saw his bride all dressed in white. Immediately tears hit his eyes and subsequently, a few hit her own as well. It wasn’t too long before he had her wrapped in his arms, holding the love of his life. They stopped to take a minute to take each other in, smile and just enjoy the moment. Then without hesitation, in one of my all time favorite wedding day moments, they stood and prayed together. I was far enough away that I couldn’t hear the words they were praying but it didn’t take much to see that they were submitting themselves to the Lord as they started this life-long journey of marriage. The time clock and the schedule faded away as I watched these two. I just stopped and cried with them at the sight of something so beautiful. This, my friends, is what I love about a wedding day. I love pictures and I love memories, but the best thing about a wedding day is the union that is made between two people. A covenant. A promise. They never stopped smiling and I smiled right along with them.
After they prayed, we hit the ground running and the wedding day flew by. However, that image is forever imprinted in my mind. A still moment in the midst of the crazy to remember why we even have weddings. My hope is to not forget that, ultimately, it is the marriage that we celebrate and not the wedding.
Tim and Erin, you two are simply the greatest and I feel unbelievably blessed to have been able to be part of your special day. Both of you radiate the joy of the Lord and the way you love each other is such an inspiration to me. I absolutely cannot wait to see where God takes you on this amazing adventure of marriage. I am confident it will be a wildly wonderful ride!
