Behind the Lens | Doing Less…To Do More

First of all, fall is officially here which is just plain WONDERFUL!! After a super hot summer of weddings, I photographed my cousin’s wedding this past weekend and the weather was 75 and perfect. Complete with that fall crispness in the air. I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. Autumn is my favorite season and so I welcome its arrival!

Secondly, today’s post is somewhat of a confession and somewhat informational for all of my blog followers and clients. If you have been reading the blog, my last two posts have been in reference to recent physical pains that have been occurring due to the nature of my job (carrying a lot of weight and overworking my arm) and to a busy 2013 schedule. Nothing too serious, but my physical therapist has told me that ‘I need to do less.’ That may seem easy to others but to me those five words provide me with a great amount of challenge. I have always loved to GO GO GO…but I also want to maintain a healthy and long-lasting career so, I’m ‘working on it.’ Ironically, a few weeks ago I set aside a business planning day for myself and one of the goals I determined was to ‘do less so that I can do more.’ The idea behind this is to find ways to maximize my time by cutting out unnecessary things. Hopefully the product of this is that I am able to move my business forward instead of getting stuck on time-consuming areas. Though it is not directly related to my health, I think it is funny how this indirectly related to the overall message of my therapist. Doing less.

So, in an attempt to do less, I am going to try something new. Something that will be a definite challenge for me. I’m going to try to blog less pictures per blog. EEEK! I can’t even believe I typed that because you KNOW how I love pictures. However, with the amount of time it takes me to prepare a blog,  I think that my time could be used in more productive ways while still giving others an insight into each one of my sessions/weddings. Don’t worry though, with as many as I post now, a cut back will still be plenty sufficient! I can’t guarantee what the follow-through on this will look like but I can guarantee an attempt!

So, keep an eye out for shorter posts and a more productive Mary!

Happy Monday!
