Behind the Lens | An Insight Into My ‘Minor Pains’

Every year I do a post with images that my second shooters have taken of me ‘behind the scenes.’ It is honestly one of my favorite posts of the year because well, it’s hilarious. I keep a running collection of photos throughout the year and then break them out once a year so that the rest of the world can laugh with me at how ridiculous I am. Even though it is not the end of 2013, I thought I might break out a couple of these images just to give some insight in to how I got the ‘pains’ that I mentioned in this week’s Take Me Back Tuesday post. If you haven’t read it, check it out here.

You see, I am what they would call an overly committed photographer. My assistant’s can tell you that when I am in ‘the zone’ I can get a little well…crazy. I forget to eat, often postpone using the restroom (sorry if that’s TMI) and I almost always find myself in ridiculous poses as I get the ‘money shot.’ This last weekend, I definitely stood in ant pile for a good 30 seconds before realizing that they were crawling all over me and biting me to death. My assistant, Julie, noticed right away, of course. While I think that this ‘zone’ thing helps me out as a photographer, it has proven to give me a few issues…those referred to in my last post. It’s ok though, because you can see from these image pairs that it’s worth it. At least to me! So while I try to figure out a balance between the ‘zone’ and a healthy approach to my job, enjoy some behind the scenes pics paired with their final result.

Happy Friday!

(And yes, I am wearing the same dress in most of these. Hey, I dry clean it every week. Give me a break!)
