Last night I got my clients to traipse out in to a field with longhorns, through longhorn droppings mind you, where we almost immediately got caught in a rainstorm and waited it out under a tree….all the while in their wedding day attire..PRE-ceremony. Then, after we waited for the rain to subside, I somehow got them to sit down in a field of wildflowers…a WET field of wildflowers. Granted, I had a blanket, but still! As we walked back to the barn, I was reminded of something I have known for a long time but never want to take for granted. That is that I have the best clients a girl could ask for. No really, I mean it. I have been so blessed over the years to get to work with really wonderful people who trust me to do what I do and let me create. When a client looks at me and says, ‘We trust you. Just tell us what you want us to do,” it makes me feel SO honored and lucky to work with them. As an artist, those words are music to your ears. Just the other day, my sister said, ‘Sometimes it hits me of the magnitude that people trust you to capture such a special day in their lives.’ Sometimes it hits me too and I am humbled. Truly humbled.
So, today, I just want to take a quick minute and say a huge thank you to all of my past and present clients out there! Thanks for trusting me to capture one of the most significant days of your lives or even the significant moments of all stages of life. I have been so privileged to ‘stand in the rain’ with so many of you. To watch out for cow patties and the giant animals who made them, ready to make a break for it at any minute. To laugh when things don’t quite happen according to plan. To bustle your dresses. Pin your boutonnieres. Help fix your hair and make up. Do ridiculous things to make your children smile. Laugh when things aren’t going quite right. To cry with you as you promise forever to the love of your love. To dance with you in celebration. And to send you off to start your new lives together. Thanks for letting me be there with you and for trusting me to capture this beautiful thing we call life.
Without each of you, life through my lens would be far less satisfying.
